Mission Statement

We, the members of the 2014-2015 State Officer Leadership Team of the Business Professionals of America, Indiana Association, commit to the overall expansion of membership by encouraging middle-level recruitment while also striving to further Indiana BPA’s community involvement through the Torch Awards Program. Our objectives will be accomplished by effectively communicating with our members.

Sean Harrington, President, Tri-County HS
President

Hey BPA! I am Sean Harrington, your 2014-2015 Indiana State President. I am currently a senior at Tri-County Middle-Senior High School. I have been a member of BPA since my freshman year, and participate in Parliamentary Procedures. I love the connections I have made through Business Professionals of America. I know that the friendships BPA has helped me create will last a lifetime. Along with the relationships, I personally value the lifelong skills I have been able to develop through our organization. Outside of BPA, I am active in several other activities. I serve as my FFA Chapter’s Secretary. I am an active member of my church’s CYO, and I am also co-team captain of my high school cross country team. When I have free time, I enjoy sailing with my family as well as indulging my addictions to various social networks. After high school, I plan on attending Purdue University's Krannert School of Management to major in Marketing.

Olivia Roberts, VP Administration, Martinsville HS
VP Administration

Hey Indiana BPA! I’m Olivia Roberts and I’ll be serving as your 2014-2015 Vice President of Administration. I’m currently a junior at Martinsville High School, and this will be my third year in BPA. In addition to BPA, I participate in MHS Flashin’ Fascination Show Choir, Madrigals, Academic Spell Bowl, Thespians, the school Musical, and I serve as the MHS DECA President. In my free time, I love to read, sing, and play my guitar. I’m a pretty big tech nerd, and I love to run the lights and sound for school productions. I’m incredibly excited to be working with this year’s SOLT and see what we can put together for you guys. Get ready for an awesome year, and I hope to hear from you all soon!

Megan Factora, VP Chapter Activities, Bloomington HS North
VP Chapter Activities

Hi, Indiana BPA! I’m Megan Factora, a senior at Bloomington High School North. I am serving as your Vice President of Chapter Activities this year. Through my enthusiasm and occasional craziness I hope that I will be able to contribute to the great potential that this association has. Besides BPA, I love singing, listening to rap music and running. I’m looking forward to all the great memories and the chance to make this year of BPA the best ever! Brandon Arbuckle, VP Communications, The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship
VP Communication

I’m Brandon Arbuckle, Indiana BPA’s Vice President of Communications. I’m currently a senior at the Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship. This is my third year in BPA, and my second year working with the State Officer Leadership Team. I think what makes this organization great is that it’s so easy to meet new people. This organization has helped me build and maintain friendships with hundreds of people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Whenever I’m not working, schooling, or “BPA’ing”, I’m usually reading a book outside. I love the outdoors, especially camping and boating. I am pumped to work with the social media aspects of the organization, and my fellow State Officers in order to make this year outstanding.

Hello BPA, my name is Ashley Klopfenstein and I’m your Vice President of Member Activities! I’m currently a junior at Hamilton Heights High School. Aside from BPA, I’m involved in Honor Society, 4H, Service With A Goal, Spanish Club, Quiz Bowl, Academic Super Bowl Team, and the girls golf team. Vanessa Hickman, VP Public Relations, Jasper HS
VP Public Relations

Greetings Indiana BPA! My name is Vanessa Hickman and I’m a senior at Jasper High School. BPA has given me so many new opportunities and new friendships that will last a lifetime. BPA has helped me further develop my public speaking and video editing skills. Outside of my involvement with BPA I’m a member of the Dance Team, National Honor Society, French Club, Student Council, Performing Arts Club, Prom Committee, and Speech Team as well as being class secretary. Outside of school activities I am in Actors Community Theatre, a summer camp counselor, and a performer on the Polar Express train. I enjoy drive-in movies, ice cream at the Dairy Barn, and watching musicals. I’m super excited to be your 2014-2015 Vice President of Public Relations. I am looking forward to working with my fellow officers and meeting all of you. After high school, I plan to continue my studies at a university in Business Management.

Kelly Steffan, District 1 President, Hebron HS
District 1

Hello BPA!! I am Kelly Steffan, your 2014-2015 District 1 President! I am a senior at Hebron High School. I have been an active member of BPA for three going on four years. Two of those years I have been Vice President of Hebron’s Chapter and one year President. I have competed in parliamentary procedures but have really enjoyed Interviewing/Advanced Interview Skills. I have learned valuable life lessons and made lifetime friendships. Besides BPA, I am a 3 year member of the Choir, Spanish Club, and Varsity Track. Planning homecoming, competing in Spell bowl, and being president of STOP (Students Taking On Problems) has instilled in me some great communication and multi-tasking skills. I plan to attend Indiana University Northwest with a Degree in Business. I am excited to bring my skills and knowledge to the leadership team! See you all at state!

Haley Klimaszewski, District 2 President, Culver HS
District 2

Hi, I am Haley Klimaszewski, your District 2 President. I have been involved in BPA for four years and I am extremely excited to be serving Indiana on the State Officer Leadership Team. I am a senior at Culver Community High school and besides being an active BPA member, I participate in many activities at my school. I am a member of the National Honor Society, Art Club, Science Club, Spanish Club, CAVS (Culver Alliance for Voluntary Service), CYCO (Culver Youth Community Organization), Yearbook and Student Council. I also play on the volleyball and softball teams. During the past two summers I have participated in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar which has taught me valuable lessons and helped prepare me for my role as District 2 President. In my free time I enjoy Geocaching and volunteering at the local Boy’s and Girl’s Club. My future plans are to attend Butler or the University of Chicago and study science.

Nancy Cole, District 3/6 President, Blackford HS
District 3/6

Hello everyone! My name is Nancy Cole, your 2014-2015 District 3/6 President. I’m a sophomore at Blackford High School. This will be my second year in Business Professionals of America. Outside of BPA, I am in involved in 4-H, I work in the nursery at New Community Worship in Hartford City, and I play clarinet in our school’s Symphonic and Pep Band. I also love playing tennis and attending my youth group at my church. When I have free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and petting my cat. I am so excited to be serving you all this year!

Larissa Bahler, District 4/5 President, Tri-County HS
District 4/5

I’m serving as your 2014-2015 District 4/5 President. I have had the privilege of being Tri-County High School’s chapter Secretary for my sophomore year and President for my junior year. I’m excited to go one level higher and become even more involved in Indiana BPA for my senior year! I’m an involved student at my school, as president of National Honor Society and an active member of Student Council. I have participated in cross country and track for the past three years, and I love to bake/cook, scrapbook, or run in my free time. Otherwise, I am usually working on the farm I lives at or in a bakery in Remington, Indiana. I’m looking forward to this challenging, new, and exciting adventure as district 4/5 president and so excited to help BPA grow!

Dalton Byers, District 7 President, Bloomfield HS
District 7

My name is Dalton Byers, and I’m the District 7 president. I’m a senior at Bloomfield Jr./Sr. High School. I have been in BPA since my freshman year. I am the secretary of my class, Student Council, and run on my school’s varsity Track and Cross Country teams. After High School I plan on going to Ozark Christian College to attain a major in Preaching and Youth Ministry and minor in Spanish or Hebrew.

Gabriel Bacon, District 8 President, Avon HS
District 8

Greetings all! My name is Gabriel Bacon and I am a senior at Avon High School. I enjoy, watching movies, working out, and the rain. I am a member of the Hendricks County Youth as Resources Board, a Center for Leadership Development Alumni, United Way Alumni, Youth Leadership United Alumni, Avon High School Student Government Member, Avon High School AIM Mentor, and a proud BPA member. Emma Lewis, District 9 President, Blue River Valley HS
District 9

Hi Indiana BPA, I am Emma Lewis and I am your District 9 President for the 2014-2015 school year. I am a sophomore from Blue River Valley Jr. /Sr. High. I have been involved with BPA since my 7th grade year and have loved it ever since! Outside of BPA, I am involved in other organizations like Family Career Community Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Forever Friends. Outside of school, I like to spend my time playing basketball, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Mariah Thewes, District 10 President, Jasper HS
District 10

Hello Hoosiers! My name is Mariah C. Thewes and I am a senior at Jasper High School. This is my fourth year in BPA and I will be serving as your 2014-2015 District Ten President. I am glad to have followed my mothers’ footsteps into BPA because it is one of my greatest decisions. My other activities include dancing at Dance Central Academy and being a member of SADD, National Honor Society, and Bat Girls. Also, I act on the Dinosaur Train, Thomas the Train, and the Polar Express at the French Lick Scenic Railway. Through everything I do, I always learn something new. Hello everyone! This will be my fourth year in BPA. Most of my free time is spent making rap instrumentals because it is something I truly enjoy. I’m in NHS, Bread for Bloomington, Cougar Leaders, Interact, and BPA of course! I’ll leave you with this quote, “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

Stephanie Smith, District 12 President, Switzerland County HS
District 12

Hi Indiana BPA! My name is Stephanie Smith and I am serving at your 2014-2015 District 12 President. I am a senior at Switzerland County High School. This is my fourth year in BPA. Besides being an active member in Business Professionals of America, I have also participated in Student Council, Outdoor Club, FCA, Pep Club, Drama Club, Key Club, and Junior Historical Society. I am on the Varsity Cheerleading squad and the Varsity Volleyball team. I also play Indoor Soccer. My favorite things to do are listen to music, hang out with my friends and race mud trucks. I hope to attend Indiana University and major in chemistry. I look forward to a great year with all of you!
